No. 21 Lady Raiders DOMINATE Arizona, Extend Historic Win Streak to 16

This wasn’t just a win this was a statement.

Behind another poised, powerful performance, the No. 21 Texas Tech Lady Raiders absolutely rolled Arizona, 80–49, on Saturday night, extending their win streak to 16 games and continuing the best start in program history.

Let’s be clear: what’s happening in Lubbock right now is real.

Fritz Leads the Charge 🔥

Denae Fritz set the tone with 16 points, playing with confidence, control, and aggression. Every time Arizona looked for air, Fritz applied pressure,  attacking seams, finishing possessions, and keeping the offense humming.

She wasn’t alone.

  • Adlee Blacklock was lights out, drilling 4-of-5 from three and finishing with 15 points

  • Jada Malone added 14 points, including a crucial early scoring burst

  • Bailey Maupin chipped in 13 points, hitting the three that gave Tech the lead for good

  • Snudda Collins finished with 11 points and anchored a defense that piled up season-high 11 blocks

That balance? That’s championship basketball.

Defense Wins Championships 🧱

Texas Tech’s defensive execution was elite active hands, rim protection, disciplined rotations. Collins and Jalynn Bristow combined for seven blocks, and the Lady Raiders made every possession uncomfortable.

From a coach’s perspective, this was textbook:

  • Defend first

  • Control tempo

  • Punish mistakes

  • Trust the system

That’s culture. That’s buy-in.

First-Half Knockout 💥

Once Bailey Maupin hit a three just over three minutes in, Texas Tech never looked back. A 14–4 run blew the game open early, capped by Malone scoring six straight points before Maupin and Malone struck again to make it 17–8 late in the first quarter.

By halftime 49–25 Lady Raiders.

Texas Tech shot 55% in the first half, went 8-of-16 from deep, and finished the night with a season-high-tying 13 three-pointers. That’s execution at a championship level.

And quietly, Gemma Nunez delivered one of the most impressive stat lines you’ll see without scoring: eight rebounds, eight assists, zero turnovers. That’s winning basketball.

Big 12 Message Sent 📣

Let’s talk implications.

Texas Tech is now 16–0 overall, 3–0 in Big 12 play, off to its best start ever and 3–0 in conference for the first time since 2010–11. This team is stacking wins, building national respect, and forcing other teams in the Big 12 to take notice.

With a road trip to West Virginia Mountaineers women's basketball coming up Wednesday, the Lady Raiders have a chance to keep momentum rolling and continue separating themselves in the conference race.
